On the womens’ side, the Tyrolean is also new and features a shorter 9 1/2″ inseam. Pockets include two zipper pockets on the thighs and a drop in pocket on the left hip with a snap closure. These use a minimal elastic waist band with a snap closure and a lightweight DWR treated fabric. New for the year is the men’s Landfarer which feature Patagonia’s longest inseam for MTB shorts at 12″. Sold as a pair, the Dirt Craft will sell for $159. All of the shorts have two front drop-in pockets and a zippered pocket on the left hip. An adjustable bike-specific waist band has a hook and webbing adjuster to snug things up, and the shorts include a padded liner short with a low profile chamois.Īvailable in men’s or women’s in the usual solid colors, Patagonia is also offering the interesting Retro Layers versions. On the outside, the Dirt Craft shorts have been revised with a longer 11 1/2″ inseam and more relaxed leg opening for kneepad integration. These are a simple, supportive liner with a high density, low profile and low bulk chamois to provide a “minimalist feel”. There are also a few pieces that have gotten slight revisions for the season as well. Now covering their entire product line for 2020, we see a few new pieces in the short and liner category to take comfort and performance to the next level. Made from a combination of recycled and natural materials, Patagonia claims that the new gear is made in socially responsible factories while also utilizing fewer virgin fabrics. Calling it the “first 100% Fair Trade Certified Sewn MTB Apparel Collection,” Patagonia is improving on the function of their clothing while also caring for the workers who are responsible for sewing those fabrics together. The Spring 2020 mountain bike clothing line has a feature we’re not used to seeing.
